ABGESTEMPELT (PUNCHED) Short Film tours across America in spring! 23rd Cinequest Film Festival California, 37th Cleveland Film Festival Ohio and 22nd Florida Film Festival – three more Oscar qualifiers!
ABGESTEMPELT (PUNCHED) Short Film was voted Best Short of the year 2012 by the French short film platform Format Court!
with more than 50 festival selections and 20 awards all over the world, including the qualification for the 2014 Academy Awards – and we look forward to a great start into 2013 with selections at 26th Stuttgarter Filmwinter, 24th Trieste Film Festival and Oscar qualifying 23rd Cinequest Film Festival, California!

After winning the Méliès Short Film Competition at Espoo Ciné International Film Festival in Finland, ABGESTEMPELT (PUNCHED) is now nominated for the Méliès D’Or – the world’s most important award in the thriller/horror/fantasy genre! The ceremony will be held as part of the SITGES Festival Internacional de Cinema Fantàstic de Catalunya on Oct 4th – fingers crossed!
The official jury statement on giving the Méliès D’Argent Short Film Award to ABGESTEMPELT at Espoo Ciné International Film Festival:
“Two themes emerge from this short film, with the first one dealing with otherness. If you are foreign, you are always a suspect and have to prove your innocence. The stronger of the two is that of caring and indifference. A good deed can, nonetheless, bring out mercy even from the deepest abyss.
This image of German, and why not even Finnish, society where people are near but so far away is almost agonisingly true. The story, told in an intensely cinematic fashion, gets started straight away, holds the audience in its grip, rewards the perceptive viewer, and leaves plenty of food for thought.”
